Terry Alan Shakespeare is a director, animator, artist, and character designer, who has also been credited among several other professions. Originally, he worked for Don Bluth under his company, Don Bluth Productions from 1981 through 1987 and served as a key clean-up artist on some of the studios' most critically acclaimed productions, including The Secret of Nimh, An American Tail, and The Land Before Time.
In 1988, he founded Creative Capers Entertainment, a freelance company that has worked with and alongside many other different companies.
For Disney, he worked as part of the Consumer Products design from 1986 through 1988 and provided character designs for many of the theme parks' merchandising, such as some for Toontown, as well as the designs for some of the interior theme designing for several Disney Stores and other divisions throughout the company. Later, he would eventually work for the company as an additional uncredited animator through his company Creative Capers for many of Disney's successful films, including Beauty and The Beast from within the art department, The Tigger Movie as a second unit director/assistant director, Mr. Magoo as a supervising producer, 101 Dalmatians as a creative producer, and several other films.
He is also known as one of the three creators of the short-lived series, Nightmare Ned, as well as serving as a leading director for LEGO's Bionicle film trilogy, which was distributed by Buena Vista Home Entertainment, the legal entity of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, and was released under the Miramax label internationally, however has also been seen in some promotional material from Disney alongside main-line releases from the company (example: Walt Disney Pictures TokenZone), with the first film even receiving a Disney DVD branded release for its' Russian Special Edition release. He also worked as a vendor for Walt Disney Imagineering from 2009 through 2010.
He has also worked with Disney Interactive for several video games, serving as the director for Goofy's Fun House, Disney's Beauty and The Beast: Magical Ballroom, Tarzan Activity Center, Disney's Animated Storybook: Hercules, Disney's Animated Storybook: The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and as an executive producer for Nightmare Ned.
