Marcel is a minor character in Disney's 2009 animated feature film, The Princess and the Frog. He is Charlotte's pet cat.
Background[]
Marcel is Charlotte's pet cat. Though he doesn't speak, he dislikes being squeezed too tight during the moment where Charlotte puts a frog hoodie on Marcel, causing him to be launched into the ceiling just before Eudora puts him down from the ceiling.
Role in the film[]
Marcel is seen at the beginning of the film where he is seen listening to Eudora telling the story of the "Frog Prince" to Tiana and Charlotte who is holding him in her arms to which while she is narrating, Marcel escapes from his owner's arms. After the story, Charlotte puts a frog costume on her cat pretending for him to be a frog, urging Tiana to "kiss" him which she refuses. Charlotte then squeezes Marcel tight, launching him up to a ceiling. Eudora tells the two to stop tormenting Marcel, and to be kind to him just before Big Daddy arrives while Eudora takes her daughter home.
Trivia[]
- It's unknown what happened to him after Charlotte grew up, as he is absent during Charlotte's adulthood.
