*Learning Design* Session #T4S3 It was an interactive “Support Group Panel” format beautifully chaired by Andrew Jacobs Panelists were Julie Dirksen Cammy Bean and Jane Bozarth. Session was kickstarted with a discussion by participants (in 2s)about what your job role is and what you really do. The summary showed a common theme… Instructional designers actually fit into roles outside of their job descriptions. My takeaways 1. Accessibility First: Design your site to be accessible to everyone, including individuals with disabilities. Use semantic HTML, ensure high contrast ratios, and provide alt text for images. Considering accessibility at the beginning of a project can save you hours of rework later on. ✅

Names are incredibly powerful. Learning the names of things is how we begin to communicate as humans. Names empower objects with purpose and meaning. It is no different in UI. Layouts will often require many divs and containers. When designing a layout, I’ve found it helpful to slow down and think about why I’m creating a new frame in the first place. Giving a UI element a name helps with my own understanding of what its purpose is. Not only that, but a well-named and organized layer list acts as its own documentation that both designers and developers will appreciate. #figma #uidesign #designtips

Episode 28 of Accessagogy is up with a discussion of accessible rubrics. If you're in post-secondary education you will have noticed that the #accessibility conversation doesn't necessarily extend to rubrics. We talk clarity and transparency, but I feel accessibility is more than that. This is a helpful article on how to create accessible calendar tables with abbreviations. It highlights how to use the aria-hidden when using an abbreviation.
