  • Angels sign Kevin Newman
Jon Heyman confirmed reports that the Angels signed INF Kevin Newman to a one-year deal with a club option for 2026.

Advice: The Angels seem to be scooping up all the veterans this offseason, trading for Jorge Soler and signing Travis d’Arnaud and now Newman. The 31-year-old hit .278 in 288 at-bats in 2024 with three home runs, 28 RBI, and eight steals. However, the veteran’s real value will come with his elite defense across the infield, which has led him to be a positive-WAR player over his career. He will likely fill a utility role off the bench for the Angels. Rotoworld 34 minutes ago

  • Yankees, Tim Hill want a reunion
Daily News’ Gary Phillips reports that the Yankees and LHP Tim Hill have a mutual interest in a reunion.

Advice: Hill was released by the White Sox in June after posting a 5.87 ERA, 2.22 WHIP, and 13/10 K/BB ratio in 23 innings. However, after signing with the Yankees, the left-hander had a 2.05 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and 18/9 K/BB ratio in 44 innings. He won’t be a fantasy asset but would be a strong addition to the Yankees’ bullpen. Rotoworld Today, 9:44 am
  • Yoán Moncada exits after HBP
Yoán Moncada left Wednesday night’s Premier12 game after being hit on the hand by a pitch.

Advice: Moncada is a free agent who has reportedly been attracting interest from a few teams this offseason, so a potential injury for an oft-injured player would be a killer to his market. However, it was revealed after the game that he didn’t suffer any fractures, so he should be fully healthy heading into 2025. Rotoworld Today, 9:35 am
  • Signs minors deal with Atlanta
Atlanta signed Leblanc to a minor-league contract Wednesday.

Advice: Leblanc, 28, is a career .254/.330/.412 hitter over parts of two big-league seasons. He will provide Atlanta with some infield depth. Rotowire.com Today, 9:24 am
  • Move to rotation not ruled out
Twins bench coach Jayce Tingler indicated in a recent interview that the team is open to the possibility of moving Jax into the rotation, Mike Ferrin of MLB Network Radio reports.

Advice: Jax came up through the minors as a starting pitcher and made 14 starts for the Twins in 2021, posting a 6.10 ERA. He's since turned into a lockdown reliever, most recently collecting a 2.03 ERA and 95:15 K:BB over 71 innings this season. With a five-pitch mix and past starting experience, Jax would seem more equipped for a shift to the rotation than most relievers. The question is whether the uptick in stuff since his move to relief would translate back to a starting role. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:54 pm
