—Philip
Philip is an enemy character from Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. He is one of Boldor's retainer, and in stark contrast to both Elliot and Boldor, is motivated only by knightly honor and loyalty. He forms a line of defense before Heirhein castle to defend his lord. However, Sigurd's army manages to break through Philip's defenses, causing him to perish in the process.

Philip is fairly durable and commands a force arranged in a reasonably competent defensive formation. Because the player needs to move at a fairly fast pace to save the village holding the Bargain Ring, the battle against him and his men can be a fairly difficult one. The player will have to defeat his force using only mounted units if they are to get the Bargain Ring in time. In order to minimize risks in this battle, the player should have Ethlyn heal the player's most vulnerable units along the way. Once the player arrives at Philip's formation, rushing straight into the southern half of his force, staying just out of his attack range, will allow the player to advance upon him with as little danger as possible. Afterwards, Philip and the Ballista units he protects should be treated as priority targets.
Because Philip lacks access to a ranged weapon, ranged attacks are a significant weakness for him. Ethlyn's Light Brand is fairly well suited to weakening him up. Once he is at low HP, the player might want to use Sigurd to finish him off, just to give Sigurd immediate access to the Return Ring. Regardless, once the threat is eliminated, Sigurd should advance to Heirhein as quickly as possible.
