[edit]Note: Levels GA ( Good article) and FA, FM, FL (Featured content), are assessments made by the community, rather than by this WikiProjects. GAs are generally reviewed by one or two editors and FA, FM, FL by a panel. Candidates are nominated by listing them at WP:Good article nominations, WP:Featured article candidates, Wikipedia:Featured list candidates and Wikipedia:Featured pictures nominations.
An article's quality assessment is generated from the class parameter in the {{WikiProject Banner Shell}}. Articles that have the {{WikiProject COVID-19}} project banner on their talk page will be added to the appropriate categories by quality.

Provides a well-written, clear and complete description of the topic, as described in Wikipedia:Article development. It should be of a length suitable for the subject, appropriately structured, and be well referenced by a broad array of reliable sources. It should be well illustrated, with no copyright problems. - listas – This parameter, which is the equivalent of the DEFAULTSORT sortkey that should be placed on all biographical articles, is a sortkey for the article talk page (e.g. for Li Wenliang, use
|listas=Wenliang, Li
so that the talk page will show up in the W's and not the L's of the various assessment and administrative categories). This is important because it is one source used by those who set DEFAULTSORT on the article; consider also setting the DEFAULTSORT for the article when setting this parameter. If the article is using {{WikiProject banner shell}} then it is preferable to add|listas=
to that template instead of a project banner template. Putting the parameter on more than one template is not required. - small – this parameter is no longer supported and can safely be removed from the template.
- attention – set
|attention=yes
if the article needs immediate attention from experienced editors. Use only if another parameter does not cover the need for attention; this should be used sparingly. It is strongly encouraged to also add a section to the talk page explaining what needs attention.- This parameter populates Category:COVID-19 articles needing attention.
- needs-image – set
|needs-image=yes
to request that a picture or pictures be included in the article to improve its quality.- This parameter populates Category:Wikipedia requested images of COVID-19-related topics.
- needs-infobox – set

- ^ For example, this image of the Battle of Normandy is grainy, but very few pictures of that event exist. However, where quite a number of pictures exist, for instance, the moon landing, FPC attempts to select the best of the ones produced.
- ^ An image has more encyclopedic value (often abbreviated to "EV" or "enc" in discussions) if it contributes strongly to a single article, rather than contributing weakly to many. Adding an image to numerous articles to gain EV is counterproductive and may antagonize both FPC reviewers and article editors.
- ^ While effects such as black and white, sepia, oversaturation, and abnormal angles may be visually pleasing, they often detract from the accurate depiction of the subject.
