Mowgli's Father is a character from the 2016 remake of The Jungle Book.
Background[]
Mowgli's father serves a traveler who raised his son Mowgli attempting to protect his son from danger. When Mowgli was a baby, his father did his best in protecting him from Shere Khan but as an unfortunate result, the tiger violently killed him and ended the man's life, leaving the man-cub without a father. Following his father's death, Mowgli visited the Man Village to grab a torch in the way his father did to protect his son to use it and fight against Shere Khan in a plan to stand up against the tiger.
Role in the film[]
Mowgli's father only appears in a flashback sequence during Mowgli's encounter with Kaa where she tells Mowgli about the dangers of the Red Flower (actually fire). Throughout the flashback sequence, Mowgli's father is seen in a cave attempting to defend his son from Shere Khan using a torch to ward off the latter, much to the tiger who stalked man in the jungle showing to have a hostile attitude towards humans. As Mowgli's father attempted to ward him off, Shere Khan ferociously retaliated and violently mauled him alive, killing Mowgli's father and leaving the man-cub without a father. Later when Mowgli visited the Man Village, he planned to face Shere Khan by grabbing a torch from the village in a plan to fight off against the tiger in a way his father did during the time when Mowgli was a baby; the battle ends following Mowgli's victory against Shere Khan.
Trivia[]
- Mowgli's father was created exclusively for the 2016 remake of The Jungle Book and does not appear in the original 1967 film nor does he appear in Rudyard Kipling's original books.
