Mickey competes against an A.I. roadster named the Self-Racing Racer (or S.R.R. for short), created by Ludwig von Drake. When it malfunctions during its race with him upon being pelted by water balloons and heads into Hot Dog Hills in breakneck speed, Mickey must help Ludwig get it back under control.
Plot[]
The episode begins just outside the Roadster Garage, where Ludwig von Drake shows the racers an invention that can race and drive by itself: the Self-Racing Racer, or SRR for short. SRR arrives at the Garage and shows off its abilities, including being able to speak. The others worry that if Roadsters are able to drive themselves, their purpose would be over. They argue to von Drake that Roadster can sometimes have problems that only their drivers are able to fix. Mickey decides to prove it by challenging SRR to a race, to which SRR agrees.
Billy Beagle announces a race with four challenges; the first to pass all 4 and cross the finish line will be the winner. Mickey takes an early lead, but SRR surges forward after swerving past the pylons popping up and easily traversing a spiraling tower as Mickey gets dizzy. The third challenge is water balloons, and Mickey protects himself with an umbrella. However, the water causes SRR to short circuit and drive into town to complete von Drake's tasks: pick up lunch, pick up his laundry, and take von Drake to the movies. Mickey tells the others to get in their Roadsters and follow the AI.
SRR successfully picks up the lunch and laundry but is driving too fast for the gang to stop him. After being rescued by Billy Beagle, von Drake finally admits that there are situations that require drivers to fix their Roadsters, giving Mickey an idea to hop into SRR to manually control him. He activates his rocket seat and lands into SRR as von Drake instructs Mickey how to switch over to manual controls, allowing Mickey to stop SRR and drive him back. The episode ends with von Drake preparing to go to the movies, with Goofy bringing a full tub of popcorn.
