Jonathan Kolia "Jon" Favreau is an American actor, director, producer, and screenwriter. He is best known for directing the 2003 Christmas comedy film Elf, in which he also portrayed Dr. Ben Leonardo. He also appeared in various other films, such as Rudy, PCU, Swingers, Very Bad Things, Deep Impact, Daredevil, The Break-Up, Four Christmases, Couples Retreat, I Love You, Man, The Wolf of Wall Street, and Chef. Additionally, he voiced Reilly the beaver in the 2006 Sony Pictures animated film Open Season and its 2008 sequel (albeit uncredited), as well as Jerome the Grizzly Bear in Zookeeper.
For Disney, he portrayed Happy Hogan in the Iron Man film trilogy, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Home, What If...?, Spider-Man: No Way Home and Deadpool & Wolverine. He also served as director and executive producer for Iron Man and Iron Man 2 (the first Iron Man film having been made before Disney acquired Marvel), as well as an executive producer for The Avengers, Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. Additionally, he voiced Pre Vizsla in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and played Rio Durant in Solo.
Favreau also played Richards in the 2012 Touchstone Pictures drama film People Like Us. In that same year, he had a cameo voice role as Thark Bookie in John Carter.
As the director of the 2016 live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book, Favreau aimed to amalgamate the spirit of the original Jungle Book with the faithfulness and storytelling of Rudyard Kipling's original tale. He used Kipling's rendition of The Jungle Book as an opportunity to kick-start Neel Sethi's career into stardom. He also directed the 2019 CGI film The Lion King, a remake of the 1994 animated film. He will direct the Star Wars film The Mandalorian & Grogu.
Favreau was named a Disney Legend in 2019 as an executive producer on the Disney+ series The Mandalorian, in which he also voiced Paz Vizsla in the series. Additionally, he is an executive producer on The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka.
