Clarence John "Clancy" Brown III is an American actor, voice actor, and producer, known for his towering height and distinctive deep voice, as well as for playing villainous and authoritative roles in film and television.

His Disney roles include voicing Undertow in the 2000 direct-to-video film The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea, Kojak in Recess: School's Out, Siege in The Mighty Ducks TV series, Gonta in the English dub of Studio Ghibli's Pom Poko, the Dark Dragon in American Dragon: Jake Long, and Mortlegax in the Lilo & Stitch: The Series episode "Ace". He also made special guest appearances in Kim Possible, Phineas and Ferb, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, and Mickey Mouse. Other roles are listed below.

He has also done work for the Star Wars franchise, such as Savage Opress in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ryder Azadi in Star Wars Rebels and Ahsoka, and playing Burg in The Mandalorian. Additionally, he voiced Surtur in Thor: Ragnarok and What If...?

Outside Disney, he is known for voicing Eugene Krabs in SpongeBob SquarePants, Lex Luthor in Superman: The Animated Series, and Dr. Neo Cortex/Uka Uka in the Crash Bandicoot franchise (from 1997 to 2003) and for portraying The Kurgan in Highlander and Captain Byron Hadley in The Shawshank Redemption.

Clarence John Brown III was born on January 5, 1959, in Urbana, Ohio, and had an older sister, Beth, who died in 1964. Their mother, Joyce Helen (née Eldridge), was a conductor, composer and concert pianist. His father, Clarence J. "Bud" Brown Jr. (19272022), was a newspaper publisher who helped manage the Brown Publishing Company, the family-owned newspaper business started by Clancy's grandfather, Congressman Clarence J. Brown. From 1965 to 1983, Bud Brown also served as a congressman, in the same seat as his own father, and later as Chairman of the Board of Brown Publishing. The family continued to operate the business until 2010.[citation needed]

Brown graduated from St. Albans School in Washington, D.C., and Northwestern University. At St. Albans, Brown performed the role of Deputy Governor Thomas Danforth in The Crucible.
