Bridgit Claire Mendler is an American actress, musician, and singer-songwriter. She is best known for her many film roles, including Pamela Jones in the 2007 comedy-drama film Alice Upside Down, Kristen Gregory in the 2008 teen comedy-drama film The Clique, and Emma Clayhill in the 2009 romantic comedy film Labor Pains. She is also well-known for her various television roles, such as portraying Candace in the NBC sitcom Undateable (2015–2016) and Emmy Quinn in the Netflix comedy series Merry Happy Whatever.
For Disney she portrayed Teddy Duncan in the Disney Channel sitcom Good Luck Charlie and most recently landed a starring role as Olivia White in the Disney Channel Original Movie Lemonade Mouth. She also made a guest appearance in Violetta, played Juliet Van Heusen in Wizards of Waverly Place, and voiced Arrietty in the English dub of Studio Ghibli's The Secret World of Arrietty. Additionally, she portrayed Ashley Wilkenson in the ABC/CMT musical drama series Nashville, voiced Appoline in Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2, and played Penny Ken in Jonas L.A.
She also performed a cover for the song "When She Loved Me", first featured in the 1999 Disney/Pixar film Toy Story 2.
Mendler was born in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Sandra (née Ford) Mendler and Charles Mendler, and has a younger brother named Nicholas. She moved with her family to Mill Valley, California, at the age of eight. It was there where she first expressed interest in acting and began working in plays. When she was eight years old, Mendler began taking part in local roles in both dramatic and musical theatre, and became the youngest performer in the San Francisco Fringe Festival. When she was 11 years old, she hired an agent to help her get acting jobs. Mendler is the niece of psychologist Christine Blasey Ford.
