Albert Lawrence Einstein, better known as Albert Brooks, is an American actor, voice actor, comedian, director, and screenwriter. He is best known for his roles in various films, such as Modern Romance, Lost in America (which he also directed), The Scout, Defending Your Life, and The In-Laws. He is also well-known for voicing Jake the Bengal tiger in the 1998 comedy film Dr. Dolittle, Russ Cargill, the main antagonist of the 2007 Fox animated film The Simpsons Movie, and Tiberius in the 2016 Universal/Illumination animated comedy film The Secret Life of Pets.
For Disney, he voiced Marlin in Disney/Pixar's 2003 animated film Finding Nemo and its 2016 sequel Finding Dory.
Brooks was born Albert Lawrence Einstein into a Jewish show business family in Beverly Hills, California, to Thelma Leeds (née Goodman), an actress, and Harry Einstein, a radio comedian who performed on Eddie Cantor's radio program and was known as "Parkyakarkus". He is the youngest of three sons. His older brothers are the late comedic actor Bob Einstein and Clifford Einstein, a partner and longtime chief creative officer at Los Angeles advertising agency Dailey & Associates. His older half-brother was Charles Einstein, a writer for such television programs as Playhouse 90 and Lou Grant. His grandparents emigrated from Austria and Russia. He grew up among show business families in Southern California, attending Beverly Hills High School with Richard Dreyfuss and Rob Reiner.

- At age 19, he had changed his professional name to Albert Brooks, joking that "the real Albert Einstein changed his name to sound more intelligent."
- He was considered to voice Genie in Aladdin, along with several other actors, but the role was ultimately given to Robin Williams.[1]
- He was considered for the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. However, Ewan McGregor was cast in the end.[citation needed]
- He was also considered to voice Pumbaa in The Lion King, along with several other actors, before the role was ultimately given to Ernie Sabella.[citation needed]
- Brooks' voice role as Marlin from the Finding Nemo franchise is virtually identical to his non-Disney voice role as Tiberius from The Secret Life of Pets; coincidentally, both the latter film and Finding Dory were released in 2016.
