"Master Kohga of the Yiga Clan" is a Side Quest in Tears of the Kingdom.

Overview[]

Link encountered Master Kohga — an old foe — within The Depths. He returned after falling down in a chasm since their last battle and has started utilizing Zonai Devices that they've found as part of their arsenal. He swears that he'll defeat Link and gain the favor of the "Magnificent One," then flies off for the abandoned southwest mine.[1]

Link caught up with Kohga at the Abandoned Gerudo Mine, who is attempting to activate a dormant Steward Construct trying to use the same trick with Link's right arm.[2] Upon finding Link, he engages him in a flying contraption, but was defeated. No longer interested in attaining Link's power for himself, he decided to go with collecting Crystallized Charge.[3] He flees for the eastern abandoned mine.

Caught up to him, Kohga fights Link in the waters of the Abandoned Lanayru Mine but is defeated again. Nonetheless, Kohga proclaimed that his underlings have apparently found the Demon King.[4] He also declared that they have enough crystalized charges to activate their "ultimate weapon,"[5] and Kohga heads off for the northwest abandoned mine to raid one more mine.

Link caught up to Kohga once more at the Abandoned Hebra Mine. Awaiting for Link's arrival, he unleashes his "ultimate weapon" against him: A large Zonai Construct. He plans to offer it to the Demon King, by demonstrating it to defeat Link. Kohga commandeers the construct and pilots it to attack Link. In the end, Kohga was defeated once again.

Kohga deployed one more trick against Link: A rocket contraption.[6] He unleashed the rocket, but it misfired and ended up slamming into Kohga. The rocket soared out of control and sent Kohga flying out the depths — never to be seen again.[7]

Objectives[]

Stage Description
1 '
2 You faced Master Kohga, head of the Yiga Clan, in the Great Abandoned Central Mine. He plans to use the power of the Zonai to end the world with the Magnificent One. Could they be involved with Zelda's disappearance? Kohga went to the Abandoned Gerudo Mine. You can go there by following a nearby series of statues through the Depths.
2 You successfully drove Master Kohga from the Abandoned Gerudo Mine, and learned his true aim. He plans to restore a powerful weapon for "the man himself." Pursue Kohga to the Abandoned Lanayru Mine. A line of statues stretching from one of the chasms either in the Lanayru Wetlands or amidst the mountains south of there will guide you to the mine.
3 You encountered Master Kohga a third time and chased him from the Abandoned Lanayru Mine. As he fled, he told you that he knows where the Demon King is and plans to activate an "ultimate weapon." The Demon King may have a clue to Zelda's whereabouts, so go catch Kohga at the Abandoned Hebra Mine. There may be a chasm that leads you straight to it...
Complete Your final showdown with Master Kohga at the Abandoned Hebra Mine resulted in the revival of the ultimate weapon—a giant construct. You managed to defeat it, and Master Kohga was last seen blasted skyward by his own hand, his plot foiled. Though Zelda's whereabouts remain unknown, you learned that the Demon King lurks beneath Hyrule Castle...

Trivia[]

  • If Link reports to Josha, she congratulates him for defeating Kohga.[8] She asks if he had found any info of Zelda's whereabouts[9] but Link said he found nothing.[10] Though unfortunate, Josha commends him for resolving the investigation on his own[11] and she will continue researching the Depths.[12]
