Adaptive control of nonsmooth dynamic systems. (English) Zbl 0982.93007

[The articles of this volume will not be indexed individually.]
This book presents the research of several authors on the adaptive control of nonsmooth systems. Irregular behaviour is due to dead zones, hysteresis, friction, rate and/or amplitude saturation and constraints, backlash, hybrid or multi-mode systems, failures. The methods are design methods familiar to engineers (describing functions, neural nets, model matching, Lyapunov functions, pole placement, integrator).
Let us observe that the tools of nonsmooth analysis are left aside, and let us mention the chapter of A. Kurdila, which focuses on issues of well-posedness for hysteresis models.
