Communications in Computer and Information Science 1661. Cham: Springer (ISBN 978-3-031-16223-7/pbk; 978-3-031-16224-4/ebook). xiii, 351 p. (2022).
Optimization theory, techniques and Operations Research is likely to be a comprehensive resource for individuals’ interest in the field of optimization and OR. Numerous books on optimisation and operations research have been released in the recent few decades. Generally speaking, only a brief theoretical overview of the use of optimisation and OR. techniques has been provided. Indeed, these disciplines are essential in many ways when it comes to current applications and developments in the sciences, engineering, finance, logistics, supply chain, and many other areas.
This book consists of six sections. Section-I begins with selected invited talks related to optimization and application. Section-II is devoted to selected work based on Integer Programming and Combinatorial Optimization including graph theory and related algorithms. Section-III focuses on selected elements based on Mathematical Programming. In addition, selected methods and applications like distributed method, experimental analysis, fixed point theory, cutting method etc. In Section-IV, Game Theory and Optimal Control concepts and applications are discussed including synthesis of motion control, Pareto behavior, networks games and optimization, etc. Section-V is devoted to Operations Research Applications including neural networks, variational autoencoder, routing ad spectrum allocation, greedy algorithm, reinforcement algorithm etc. in fact, this section forms a bridge between the previous two sections. In the last section, the good number of references mentioned will help in a deep learning of this subject and for further research.
Overall, this book “Mathematical optimization theory and operations research” provides a good teaching and learning reference to academicians, students, engineers, scientists, researchers in the field of optimization and operations research. The book is very clearly written and the section-wise applications-based subject is well presented. The comprehensive theoretical concepts with numerical applications and computational analysis are very useful for understanding and implementation.
