The strong cosmic censorship conjecture: global uniqueness for the Einstein equations. (Portuguese. English summary) Zbl 1459.83029
Summary: We will argue that the notion of determinism in general relativity reduces to the question of global uniqueness for the Einstein equations. In that context, the blue shift effect then leads us to the strong cosmic censorship conjecture. After discussing the difficulties in obtaining a precise formulation for the conjecture at hand, we motivate the study of a particular characteristic initial valued problem for the Einstein-Maxwell-scalar field system, in spherical symmetry, as a model problem to study cosmic censorship. Recent results, obtained by the author et al. are then presented [Classical Quantum Gravity 32, No. 1, Article ID 015017, 33 p. (2015; Zbl 1309.83034); Commun. Math. Phys. 339, No. 3, 903–947 (2015; Zbl 1325.83003); Ann. PDE 3, No. 1, Paper No. 8, 55 p. (2017; Zbl 1396.83005)]. We finish by discussing the potential consequences of these results to strong cosmic censorship.
