From the text: In 2018, the 23rd International Conference on Implementation and Application of Automata took place in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, July 30 – August 2. Following the tradition where all CIAA/WIA were organized by the Computer Science departments of the hosting institutions, CIAA 2018 was organized by the School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences at the University of Prince Edward Island.
After a standard refereeing process, 23 submitted papers were presented together with 4 invited papers. This volume includes 9 selected papers in their revised and extended form, accepted after a careful refereeing process. The included papers present results in automata theory, giving a strong emphasis to the application and implementation of automata structures.
