Acknowledgement of priority of Theorem 7 of the authors’ paper [SIAM Rev. 21, 18–33 (1979; Zbl 0421.52003)] to R. Holmes [Nieuw Arch. Wisk. (3) 14, 106–113 (1966; Zbl 1308.41019)]. It is also mentioned that their paper [Topology, Proc. Conf., Vol. 4, No. 1, Ohio Univ. 1979, 149–158 (1980; Zbl 0443.54008)] contains further results on the convergence of sequences of closed sets.
