Mathematical Modelling in Physics, Engineering and Cognitive Sciences 7. Växjö: Växjö University Press (ISBN 978-91-7636-385-0). 331 p. (2004).
Publisher’s description: This volume constitutes the proceedings of the Conference “Mathematical modelling of wave phenomena” held in Växjö, Sweden, 3rd – 8th November 2002.
The conference focuses on acoustic waves (both in solids and fluids including presence of a mean flow) and electromagnetic waves (including plasmas). Although there are important differences between acoustic and electromagnetic waves they have many fundamental features in common for making comparisons very rewarding. In addition, the research in acoustics and electromagnetics tend to follow different paths for predicting similar problems. Fundamentals as well as applications were treated in the conference
Contents:
(1) Classical linear wave propagation modeling, analysis and computation
(2) Classical nonlinear wave propagation modeling, analysis and computation
(3) Quantum and statistical mechanics
(4) Signal processing and analysis
The articles of this volume will not be indexed individually. For the 2nd conference see [Zbl 1131.76004].
