A unified approach for handling convection terms in finite volumes and mimetic discretization methods for elliptic problems. (English) Zbl 1263.65102

The numerical solution of the steady-state convection-diffusion equation is analysed by using the discretisation of the diffusion term via the hybrid mimetic method regarded as the unified formulation the finite volume method, the mixed finite volume method and the mimetic finite difference method.
