Summary: A new approach to regression of fuzzy data based on a new metric distance is proposed. Initially a distance on the interval numbers based on convex hull of endpoints is proposed which satisfies the metric properties. It is different from most of the existing distance measures for interval numbers. We point out that the metric we proposed has all the properties of a metric distance. We extend it to fuzzy numbers. Finally, we illustrate the proposed method by solving several numerical examples.
