The Chaplygin gas as a model for dark energy. (English) Zbl 1179.83045

Novello, Mário (ed.) et al., The tenth Marcel Grossmann meeting. On recent developments in theoretical and experimental general relativity, gravitation and relativistic field theories. Proceedings of the MG10 meeting held at Brazilian Center for Research in Physics (CBPF), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 20–26 July 2003. 3 Vols. Hackensack, NJ: World Scientific (ISBN 981-256-667-8/hbk/set). 840-859 (2006).
This is a short review of the features of the Chaplygin gas and its use for cosmological models. Relations to other cosmological scenarios are described and fitting possibilities to present day observations are given.
