In the present paper the two authors, generalizing the notion of precontinuous functions in bitopological spaces, introduce the notion of weakly precontinuous functions. They obtain several characterizations of such functions and study some or their properties on certain types of bitopological spaces. They also investigate under which conditions weak precontinuity turns into precontinuity and almost precontinuity.
