Summary: This is an introduction to knot theory for non-specialists, focused on quantum invariants. I describe the homologies of covering spaces of a knot, the Alexander polynomial, the HOMFLY polynomial, the colored Jones polynomial, and the volume conjecture. There are essentially no new results in this article.
