Circuit-QED: How strong can the coupling between a Josephson junction atom and a transmission line resonator be? (English) Zbl 1132.82021

In the present paper there are discussed comparatively the coupling to an electromagnetic cavity of a circular Rydberg atom and a Josephson junction atom. The authors are concerned with conditions which are useful for making hybrid superconducting qubits which would store quantum information mostly into high-\(Q\) superconducting resonating cavities.
