Max plus at work. Modeling and analysis of synchronized systems: a course on max-plus algebra and its applications. (English) Zbl 1130.93003

Princeton Series in Applied Mathematics. Princeton, NJ: Princeton University Press (ISBN 0-691-11763-2/pbk). xi, 213 p. (2006).
This book of applied mathematics deals with modeling, analysis, and timing of such event, all subject to synchronization constraints. The constraints are relations that exist between the events, such as message must have been sent before it can arrive and certain train should not depart before another train has arrived. The book deals with max-plus algebra, i.e., an algebra in which the evolution of events can be described in convenient way. Applications related to timetable design for railway networks are considered.
