Summary: This paper presents a review of some of the results on generalized order statistics and their special cases. Distributions of generalized order statistics, moments and recurrence relations, estimation and prediction, sequential order statistics, and progressive type II censoring are among the topics reviewed in this paper. Recurrence relations and moments for a class \({\mathfrak I}\) of distributions and its members are obtained. Possible applications of important cases are presented. Prospectives of further use and applications of generalized order statistics are, indeed, numerous.
