Computer aided optimum design in engineering IX (OPTI IX). Ninth international conference on computer aided optimum design in engineering, Skiathos, Greece, May 23–25, 2005. (English) Zbl 1088.74004
High Performance Structures and Materials; WIT Transactions on the Built Environment 80. Southampton: WIT Press (ISBN 1-84564-016-0/hbk). viii, 462 p. (2005).
The book consists of six sections. The book starts from advances in numerical methods (section 1) and next presents structural optimization (section 2). Sections 3 and 4 are devoted to optimization in biomechanics and fluid-structure interaction. Practical applications are treated in section 5 (optimization in car and mechanical engineering) and 6 (industrial examples of design optimization).
The book is a valuable addition to the existing literature on design optimization. The book is accessible to the novice and expert, alike, and can be used by students, engineers and scientists working in automotive and mechanical engineering.
The articles will not be reviewed individually.
