Summary: The general class of partially relaxed monotone mappings and their connections to other mappings such as cocoercive and strongly monotone mappings is explored with several examples of interest. Partially relaxed monotone mappings are more general in nature than classes of cocoercive as well as strongly monotone mappings. Applications of these notions to problems arising from pure and applied mathematics, mathematical programming, variational problems, and engineering sciences are enormous.
