Flexible GMRES-FFT method for fast matrix solution: application to 3D dielectric bodies electromagnetic scattering. (English) Zbl 1068.78004

The authors report on numerical experiments for solving the volume electric field integral equation, which models the scattering of electromagnetic waves by penetrable objects. To treat the interesting case of relative high permittivity they use the flexible inner-outer preconditioned GMRES, proposed by Y. Saad [SIAM J. Sci. Comput. 14, 461–469 (1993; Zbl 0780.65022)]. Their tests for cubes and spheres show a considerable speed up.
