Summary: Let \(C\) be a smooth projective curve of genus \(g\geq2\). We investigate the existence of stable vector bundles having polystable subbundles or subbundles which are direct sum of stable vector bundles of the same rank. Moreover, we discuss whether such subbundles are maximal.
