Influence of aerodynamic effects on stability of the vehicle motion. (Russian) Zbl 1048.70004
The stability of airplane motion during runway stage is discussed. Airplane, as vehicle, has ability of superslewing, and without taking into account aerodynamic effects its motion is unstable. For real systems the motion is stabilized by aerodynamic force on the vertical tail. In the paper a “bicycle” model of airplane, which is identical to the vehicle with an additional wheel axis instead of the vertical tail, is considered. The drag coefficient of the wheel sideways deflection is proportional to the square of velocity. A sufficient condition for stability is obtained as an upper bound on the motion velocity. This value is a function of the drag coefficient, the vehicle mass, and the distances between the system’s mass centre and the axes of frontal and main wheels (landing gears).
