Optimal paired comparison designs for first-order interactions. (English) Zbl 1039.62069

From the paper: For paired comparisons in a linear model without interactions optimal designs require that the alternatives presented show distinct levels in each attribute. A design which is constituted by the set of all these pairs is optimal with regard to every invariant design criterion.
For first-order interaction models we have to consider pairs in which approximately a portion of \((I-1)/I\) of the attributes shown are distinct and a portion of \(1/I\) of the attributes coincide. The set of all those pairs turns out to be \(D\)-optimal.
