Fault detection for multirate sampled-data systems with time delays. (English) Zbl 1017.93063

The authors are concerned with fault detection problems for the MSD (multirate samped-data) systems with time delays in a general setting. The main purpose of the paper is to design an optimal fault detection system that achieves the best trade-off between the sensitivity of the fault detection system to the faults and its robustness to the unknown inputs. The authors restrict their attention to the optimal design of the residual generator which takes into account the intersample behaviour, the multirate nature, and the time delays in the control input and process output channels of the system. Two illustrative examples are discussed where first an MSD system without delays and then an MSD system with delays are studied.
