The influence of quadrature formulas in 2D and 3D mortar element methods. (English) Zbl 1007.65096

Pavarino, Luca F. (ed.) et al., Recent developments in domain decomposition methods. Some papers of the workshop on domain decomposition, ETH Zürich, Switzerland, June 7-8. 2001. Berlin: Springer. Lect. Notes Comput. Sci. Eng. 23, 203-221 (2002).
Summary: The paper is concerned with the mortar finite element discretization of scalar elliptic equations in three dimensions. The attention is focused on the influence of quadratic formulas on the discretization error. We show numerically that the optimality of the method is preserved if suitable quadrature formulas are used.
