Simulation of cluster point processes without edge effects. (English) Zbl 1007.60041

The authors describe a method suitable to simulate a cluster point process without edge effects and so to correct for influence of parent points lying outside the simulation domain. The idea is to replace the cluster distribution by one which is conditioned to plant at least one daughter point in the observation window, and to thin the parent process to have an inhomogeneous intensity exactly balancing the effect of this conditioning. The authors show how the method extends to cases involving infinitely many potential parents, for example gamma-Poisson and shot-noise G-Cox processes. The pseudo-code of the algorithms and three numerical examples are presented.
