Expected type-II censoring time for 2-parameter Gompertz distribution. (English) Zbl 1005.62088

Summary: In reliability analysis, considering the energy, money and material resources, engineers always try to find an economic way to complete an experiment in the shortest time. The purpose of this paper is to derive a ratio formula based on expected type-II censoring time and expected complete sampling time (REET=\(E(X_{r:n})/E (X_{r:r}))\). By using this ratio formula, we can provide information about how much experiment time can be saved by using a type-II censoring plan to replace a complete sampling plan.
Up to the present, the failure times have been proposed to follow Weibull and Pareto distributions. We propose the failure times to follow the 2-parameter Gompertz distribution. The object of this paper is to allow the distributions of the data to have many choices by goodness of fit, in type-II censoring plans. The engineers may use the proposed ratio formula to decide the censoring number, experiment sample size, and other relative parameters to save total experiment time. By simulation, we propose a procedure to get the percent of saving experiment time.
