Stability of Thomson’s configurations of vortices on a sphere. (English) Zbl 0967.76023

Thomson’s configuration of vortices on a sphere is a system of \(N\) vortices which form regular \(N\)-polygon and rotate around the center of symmetry with constant velocity. Here, the authors find sufficient conditions for Lyapunov stability of such a motion.
