Control of flat systems by quasi-static feedback of generalized states. (English) Zbl 0962.93019

It is very hard to realize the advantage of using notions of differential algebra in control theory by reading this paper. Is it worth trying to repair mathematical deficiencies like the following one?
Without any assumption concerning the derivation the authors say that the transcendence degree of an extension is finite if the differential transcendence degree vanishes, which is obviously wrong (consider the trivial derivation!). But the central definition of a state is based upon this error.
