Analysis of expanded mixed finite element methods for a nonlinear parabolic equation modeling flow into variably saturated porous media. (English) Zbl 0948.65096
The authors consider a nonlinear (possibly degenerate) parabolic partial differential equation which models the flow of water into a variably saturated porous medium. They carry out a carefull analysis of some expanded mixed finite element methods used to solve it.
