A practical public key cryptosystem provably secure against adaptive chosen ciphertext attack. (English) Zbl 0931.94018

Krawczyk, Hugo (ed.), Advances in cryptology - CRYPTO ’98. 18th annual international cryptology conference, Santa Barbara, CA, USA, August 23–27, 1998. Proceedings. Berlin: Springer. Lect. Notes Comput. Sci. 1462, 13-25 (1998).
Summary: A new public key cryptosystem is proposed and analyzed. The scheme is quite practical, and is provably secure against adaptive chosen ciphertext attack under standard intractability assumptions. There appears to be no previous cryptosystem in the literature that enjoys both of these properties simultaneously.
