Dirac’s representation theory as a framework for signal theory. II: Infinite duration and continuous signals. (English) Zbl 0924.94005

The author generalizes the results of Part I [see Zbl 0924.94014 above] to the case of continuous-time sampling. The trickiest part seems to lie in giving a good definition of the “Dirac space” of samples in the time domain. Once that has been done the author obtains versions of the sampling theorem for discrete frequencies for bounded time and for band-limited signals. It should be noted that neither part has any applications and that it is not very clear (at least to the reviewer!) that this change in formalism really adds much to signal theory. That will have to wait for the author’s promised future papers.
