The author studies the wave propagation in elastic pre-stressed laminated plates assuming the state of plane strain for an incompressible material. The dispersion relation is found numerically and investigated analytically in the long and short wave limits. The solution of governing equations for the state of plane strain is sought in the form of traveling waves. The limiting wave speeds are the speeds of plane shear waves propagating along the plate. Illustrative examples show that in the long wave limit the speed of the fundamental mode is finite, whereas all harmonics have infinite wave speed.
