Bruhat type decompositions are very powerful tools for the study of Kac-Moody groups. Two important versions of the decomposition are due to Bruhat and Birkhoff. The authors construct a new family of Bruhat type decompositions in which classical Bruhat and Birkhoff decompositions appear as special cases. The authors also study the closure patterns of the double cosets involved.
