Summary: This paper addresses the implementation of vortex methods on parallel machines with distributed memory to simulate three-dimensionally evolving jet. Vortical structure development, due to Kelvin-Helmholtz instability, of the axially perturbed jet is also examined. The implementation is conducted on an experimental parallel object-oriented environment, and parallelism is focused on the issues of data distribution of vortices, efficient support of parallel I/O, and overlapping of communications with computations.
