An analysis of 3D particle path integration algorithms. (English) Zbl 0840.65081
The Cauchy problem for a system of three differential equations \(x' = u(x,t)\) is studied with applications to steady and unsteady velocity fields. The function \(u\) is considered to be given at some set of discrete times only. An analysis (the accuracy, the stability, the memory requirements, the computational efficiency) of multistep, multistage and some hybrid schemes is given.
