An introduction to tolerance intersection graphs. (English) Zbl 0840.05079

Alavi, Yousef (ed.) et al., Graph theory, combinatorics, and applications, Vol. 2. Proceedings of the sixth quadrennial international conference on the theory and applications of graphs held at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, MI, USA, May 30-June 3, 1988. New York: John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Wiley-Interscience Publication. 705-723 (1991).
Summary: A masterplan of tolerance intersection graphs is proposed. Any class of intersection graphs can be generalized by introducing tolerances. As an example, nested families of sets with tolerances are studied, by which new characterizations of threshold graphs, interval graphs and coTT graphs are obtained. Some questions and problems are posed.
