The designer’s guide to SPICE and SPECTRE. (English) Zbl 0834.94002

Dordrecht: Kluwer Academic Publishers. xvi, 382 p. Dfl 155.00; $ 88.00; £61.75 (1995).
This book is for analog and mixed signal circuit designers familiar with the operation of SPICE. Individuals who use other circuit simulators will also find this book useful.
The book is arranged into four general areas of simulator analysis: DC Analysis, AC Analysis, Transient Analysis and Fourier Analysis. For each area some fundamental mathematical discussion is given covering the basis operation of the analysis. Then practical details of the implementation are presented. Finally, some of the nontrivial applications in which the particular analysis is used is discussed.
Readers can expect to obtain a basic understanding of how circuit simulators calculate results, knowledge of the types of errors that can occur and general ways to encourage convergence and to improve accuracy of the results.
This interesting and useful book provides a new source of information on the operation of circuit simulators for design engineers.
