Summary: A particular class of wavelets, derivatives of B-splines, leads to fast and efficient algorithms for contour detection of 1D and 2D signals by a discrete dyadic finite multiscale wavelet analysis. To detect higher order singularities, the multiscale analysis algorithm, with higher order spline wavelets is very simply expressed in terms of B-splines subdivision and differentiation formulas. This formulation allows us to generalize the algorithm for nonuniformly sampled data. This algorithm is used to locate the singularities of a function.
