As result of a revision of the first edition of the book (see detailed review Zbl 0475.30001 by C. Andreian Cazacu), the authors rewrite the section VI.3 on the theta divisor and make a few modest additions, including some results on hyperelliptic surfaces (in sections III.10.5-6, V.1.10 and VII.1.10-11), and exercises as well as Torelli’s theorem and the trisecant formula.
